Hidden Palaces of the Albaicín

Private tour Albaicin Houses & Palaces

Route of the Andalusi Monuments
“Beyond the panoramic views, the true treasure of the Albaicín lies behind closed doors.”

While most visitors remain on the surface wandering the streets, we hold the key to the interiors.

This exclusive route unlocks the doors to private Nasrid life. We will visit the palace of Boabdil’s mother (Dar al-Horra), immerse ourselves in the vapourous atmosphere of El Bañuelo (the best-preserved Arab bath in the peninsula), and discover the domestic architecture invisible from the street.

  • Access to Interiors: Includes tickets to key Andalusi monuments. We enter where others merely pass by.
  • Architecture & Intimacy: Understand how people lived, loved, and conspired in 15th-century Granada.
  • No Crowds: Spaces of silence and high availability, far from the bustle of the Alhambra.

The Itinerary of Private Life

A chronological and sensory journey through the spaces inhabited by Granadinos before the Conquest.

1. Dar al-Horra Palace

The residence of Queen Aixa. Located in the upper part of the Alcazaba Cadima, it offers a unique insight into the Nasrid palatine structure outside the Alhambra, with spectacular views and no crowds.

2. El Bañuelo (Hammam al-Yawza)

We shall descend towards the River Darro to enter the 11th-century Arab bath. Its vaults, pierced with star-shaped skylights, create a magical atmosphere. We will discuss hygiene, social ritual, and water engineering.

3. Moorish Houses (Horno de Oro / Zafra)

We will understand the evolution of domestic housing after the Conquest. How the Nasrid house adapted or concealed itself under the new Christian administration.

“A route designed for the traveller who already knows the Alhambra and seeks to delve into the domestic soul of Granada.”
